Through seeing an external representation of our internal worlds, allows us to deeply navigate the compassion, forgiveness and acceptance of all of our emotional states as states of belonging, purpose, and intentional elements in our life.
In this keynote, we will use the visual inventory of design to draw parallels between; setting boundaries, understanding our prioritizes in and outside of academia, and how we schedule and pace our work-flow and agendas as students, educators, parents, partners, and folks in the community.
Together we will learn how to use the concepts of design practice as a resource and tool for personal agency and self-awareness to articulate and communicate the integration of well-being at the center of our work, studies, and social life through the language of design and connectivity.
Taryn Goodwin (she/her) is a social practice artist and community organizer invested in supporting connections that celebrate and center well-being, leadership and re-imagine mental health and community-care in learning ecologies.
Across all her works, Taryn highlights and addresses The Body of Knowledge as a value-based practice using collaborative structures, critical pedagogy, and empathy as tools for gathering, learning, and meaning-making.
Experimenting with the possibilities of attendance, participation, student, and meaning-making across disciplines and publics Goodwin is often found using the virtual classroom and community training as a model for dialogue, participation, and systems change.
Taryn practices her work on the Unceded traditional territories of the Pentlach and K’òmoks Coast Salish People working to create community-minded, safe spaces for the LGTBQ2S+ community.
